By finalizing their parish superiority with the sweep of Quitman on Tuesday and Wednesday followed by a pair of victories at the Class B Bash in Choudrant on Friday and Saturday, Weston ran their winning streak to a season best nine straight.
In doing so, the second ranked Wolves also closed ground on the top spot of the Division V rankings. Sporting a 17-9 overall record, Weston is now tied for the most wins in Division V with top ranked Pitkin (17-3) and now trail in power points by only a 1.6 margin.
Weston 3 Quitman 1 (Wednesday) With a second win in consecutive days over their Jackson Parish and district rival, the Wolves cinched the 1B championship, moving two game ahead with only two left to play. With two of the top pitchers in the parish dueling, it was far different from the 9-4 slugfest won by the Wolves the day before. In this one, both pitchers threw superb games with Weston’s Cooper Delaney getting the best of Quitman’s Logan Ponder by allowing just three hits and no earned runs compared to the five hits and two earned runs allowed by the Quitman ace.
Offensively the two played a major role as well. Ponder helped Quitman take a 1-0 lead in the third inning when he stroked a double to move John Raegan Hasley, who had reached on an error, to third base and setting the stage for him to score on a wild pitch. In the top of the fourth it was a ground ball hit by Delaney that was booted allowing Bryce Zehr and Braden Theriot to score after both had singled earlier in the inning. Weston increased the lead to 3-1 in the top half of the next inning when Drew Browning hit a two out double to score Zehr, who had walked.

Seven batters reached first and four runs scored before the Wolves got their first out as Weston sent 12 to the plate to open the game.
